With an emphasis on teamwork, communication and fellowship, our Signature leadership journeys inspire your students to be courageous leaders, willing to take on any challenge.

HARNESSING LEADERSHIP THROUGH ADVENTURE

Group cycling initiatives challenge students to continuously adapt and exercise meaningful communication techniques, think quickly, and listen before responding.

Through abseiling or rock climbing, your students observe themselves and their peers achieve beyond their perceived limits. Students build on their self-belief as they learn new skills, set their own objectives and support each other both emotionally and physically in the face of new challenges.

SIGNATURE JOURNEYS IN DEVELOPING RESILIENCE

OEG Week 1 2019 (NSW)-2166-1

PREPARE YOUR STUDENTS FOR LIFE'S CHALLENGES

All young people encounter stress and challenges of varying degrees as they mature. They can be dealing with problems ranging from adapting to a new classroom, bullying to low self-image. Add the uncertainties of growing up, and childhood can sometimes be anything but carefree. The ability to thrive despite these challenges arises from resilience.

Resilience gives young people the strength and fortitude to confront the obstacles they are bound to face in life. Our Signature resilience journeys provide your students with opportunities to learn resilience as a skill to carry with them into their futures. By facing and accepting personal challenges through trust, empathy and teamwork, students explore effective coping strategies and strengthen their communication and problem-solving skills.

Our Signature journeys support your students to develop resilience by helping them cultivate an approach to life, viewing obstacles as a critical part of success.

EMPOWER YOUR STUDENTS THROUGH EXCITING CHALLENGES

Bushwalking adventures require students to work together in navigating their route without the aid of digital technology. Students build spatial sense and visual literacy as they learn new skills and learn map-reading skills. Students are encouraged to reflect on their decisions and recognise the strengths of their peers.

Group initiatives challenge students to continuously adapt and exercise meaningful communication techniques, think quickly and listen before responding. Students work together as a team and strategise to reach their agreed-upon goals; they draw on self-control, self-efficacy, and adaptability. They are encouraged to attempt these activities more than once to understand they can learn from errors and build their capabilities.

AN UNFORGETTABLE WALK

We provide our Signature journeys in resilience in various locations, including the 250km walking track linking Sydney to Newcastle.

Created in 1988 to celebrate Australia's bicentenary, the Great North Walk is a popular choice because it allows students to venture through amazing scenic landscapes of forests, lakes, and rivers. The walking track is alive with spontaneity and unexpected lessons at every turn.

SIGNATURE JOURNEYS IN FUN AND FRIENDSHIP

OEG Week 1 2019 (NSW)-2398-1

DEEPEN BONDS AND CAMARADERIE AMONG YOUR STUDENTS

Friendships amongst young people promote the development of vital social and emotional skills, increasing a sense of belonging and decreasing stress. However, students of all ages can sometimes struggle with friendship issues. Understanding how to communicate effectively, learning to trust, and navigating social interactions takes practice and experience.

Our fun and friendship Signature journeys focus on building strong relationships and social cohesion by providing unique opportunities for your students to explore self-management, increase their communication skills and build on trust and empathy.

Community living is a key component of our journeys in fun and friendship. Sharing in an adventure together, experiencing the high and lows collectively, students feel safe sharing ideas, trying new things, and feel confident in applying their knowledge and skills. Students will practice collaboration, acceptance and pro-social behaviour to develop into positive members of their community.

MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS SUPPORTING WELLBEING

Canoeing promotes unique opportunities for students growth as water environments are often an unfamiliar setting for student learning experiences. Students apply the practical skills they've learnt in teams of 2 and understand the value of encouraging each other as they exercise their communication skills and push past their comfort zones to achieve their personal best.

Reflection time around the campfire encourages students to explore the importance of their own learning process, recognising what they did well and which area they can improve. In sharing their experiences in a group setting, students develop trust, become aware of those around them and understand they play a role in the lives of others; this deepens their bonds and creates meaningful relationships.

NEW IDEAS IN NEW ENVIRONMENTS

Our Signature journeys in fun and friendship not only introduce your students to new ideas they also introduce them to new environments.

With its Spotted Gums, Burrawang Palm Forests and pockets of warm temperate rainforest Murramarang National Park provides the perfect location, all year round, for students who are ready to strap on a backpack and immerse themselves in the natural world. Highlights include the Depot Beach Rainforest walk, which explores a unique ecological area where the rainforest meets the beach.

SEQUENCES FOR GREATER IMPACT

Our Signature programs provide invaluable learning experiences as standalone programs; they also offer a long term solution for students progress when they form part of a sequential program.

Sequential programming introduces your students to varying and age-appropriate adventures and activities, enabling growth and development from one year to the next.
