Here is what OEG's Chief of People and Culture Sam McMaster had to say:

Celebrating International Women's Day: Empowering Women Across All Roles

"As we celebrate International Women's Day, it is a moment of reflection and recognition of the progress we have made in fostering gender equality, and a time to advocate for continued empowerment of women in all spheres. The latest report from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) highlights an encouraging statistic, revealing that OEG has a -4.7% Median Gender Pay Gap in both Median Base Salary and Median Total Remuneration. This suggests a positive shift towards gender parity."

#BreakTheBias

"It is crucial to acknowledge and celebrate these advancements while remaining vigilant in our pursuit of true equality. The International Women's Day theme for this year emphasises the need to #BreakTheBias, challenging stereotypes and biases that persist in our society and workplaces".

"As a new mother who is learning to wear various hats in daily life, I understand the power that diverse perspectives bring to the workplace. Each role we play outside of our professional lives informs our unique views, skills, and strengths that we bring to the table. It is this diversity that makes our collective journey towards gender equality more powerful and inclusive".

Celebrating Women

"Empowering women is not just about closing the gender pay gap; it's about creating an environment where women are supported in all aspects of their lives. It involves recognising and celebrating the diverse roles women play, from mothers and caregivers to professionals and leaders. It's about fostering a culture where women can thrive, lead, and contribute without limitations".

"On this International Women's Day, let us commit to supporting women in all roles, breaking down barriers, and lifting each other up. Whether in the workplace, at home, or in our communities, let us embrace the strength that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences. Together, we can create a world where every woman has the opportunity to shine and reach her full potential".

Happy International Women's Day to all the incredible women who make a difference every day. May we continue to champion equality, break biases, and create a more inclusive future for everyone.

Creating a safe space for everyone

For our team, we'll be holding a Fireside Chat where the team can openly share stories, conversations and resources with each other. For everyone and those working with students, here are some pointers to start a conversation about International Women's Day.

  • Who is the most influential woman you know?
  • How does she inspire you?
  • What do they think has changed for women from your parents' generation to theirs?
