Our goal at any camp is to provide a balance of comfort and adventure. The further into the wilderness the adventure takes us, the more the accommodation options must change based on the facilities and amenities available. That doesn’t mean students can’t still be in the best comfort available while they experience the best of what the great Australian outdoors has to offer.
CABIN ACCOMMODATION
Hard-top camps like Camp Marysville, Jungai and Wombaroo are equipped with cabins that, depending on the location, will sleep between 6 and 12 people. These cabins are equipped with reverse-cycle air-conditioning and heating and most have an ensuite bathroom with shower.
The cabins are the accommodation option that most closely resemble what students are used to and therefore generally take the least amount of adjustment for those who are new to camp.
LODGE ACCOMMODATION
Reserved for leaders at Camp Marysville and both for leaders and students at Camp Jungai, lodge accommodation is similarly equipped to a cabin but with the addition of a kitchenette and small lounge room. A lodge can sleep anywhere from 2 - 8 for leaders and up to 28 for student accommodation.
BUNKHOUSE ACCOMMODATION
Located at Bush Camp Margaret River, the bunkhouse accommodation provides sleeping space for 44 people in addition to 5 campsites. Margaret River Bush Camp also has toilets, showers and a custom-built outdoor education centre/bunkhouse for school staff.
ECO CABIN ACCOMMODATION
Bush Camp Biloela accommodates up to 250 people in architecturally designed eco-cabins carefully placed amongst the forest surrounding river flats. The cabins themselves have 2 sleeping wings separated by a central living space.
Each cabin also features tank water supply, potbelly stove heating, solar lighting and a composting toilet. Cabins are in addition to tented sleeping options.
TENTED ACCOMMODATION
The exciting part of any of the bush camps requiring tented accommodation is that students learn to erect and dismantle their own tents before calling their tent home for the night. The tents themselves sleep 2-3 and may be used on bush camps, journey programs or expeditions without hard-top camp facilities.
So there you have it! An overview of the camp accommodation students may encounter while on a program with The Outdoor Education Group.
